Journal Entry   Back Back Bay NWR Administrative Assistant Receives Public Service Award Northeast Region, May 11, 2005 Print Friendly Version Back Bay NWR Administrative Assistant Gayle Green was honored by the City of Virginia Beach for her outstanding public service ethics and accomplishments in supporting eco-tourism in the community and on the Refuge. The ceremony took place at a May 11 luncheon attended by more than 500 individuals representing the area's hotel, restaurant, convention, tourism and public attraction resources. Ms. Green was selected for this award from a group of more than two dozen that had been nominated in the public service category. Virginia Beach Mayor Meyera Oberndorf and City Manager James Spore presented Ms. Green with a plaque honoring her accomplishments. This honor served to highlight the strong partnerships that the Refuge has with the Virginia Beach tourism community, and the important role that the Refuge plays in area eco-tourism initiatives.
