Pea Island NWR debuts the Southeast Region's first
Southeast Region, April 18, 2005
Print Friendly Version
Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge debuted its first virtual online visit to the refuge via the Internet on Monday April 18. According to Wildlife Interpretive Specialist Ann Marie Salewski, "School children and others from all over the country, who download and view this E-field trip, will be able to embark on a virtual visit to the Pea Island NWR and learn about the sea turtle conservation efforts currently underway at the Refuge. What is really special is that students, who would never have the opportunity to visit the ocean, will be able to see the beauty of Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, while learning about the important role refuges play in wildlife conservation." As of April 26, more than 3,200 students have registered for the trip already, including classrooms from 38 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. Students register to participate in the field trip at: http://www.efieldtrips.org/SeaTurtles/index.htm The site includes a virtual visit to the refuge, an eField Trip Journal, the opportunity to post questions, using the "Ask the Experts Form," and the chance to join in a live interactive web chat with the experts.
