Journal Entry   Back KENAI: Brown Bear Policy Group Formed Alaska Region, May 2, 2005 Print Friendly Version The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and Alaska Department of Fish and Game have signed a support agreement and Memorandum of Understanding to coordinate management of brown bears and their habitat on the Kenai Peninsula. The State of Alaska recognizes brown bears on the Peninsula as a species of special concern. The group has also formally chartered the Interagency Brown Bear Study Team as a subcommittee to address long-term research and monitoring needs for Kenai brown bears.
