KENAI: Brown Bear Policy Group Formed

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and Alaska Department of Fish and Game have signed a support agreement and Memorandum of Understanding to coordinate management of brown bears and their habitat on the Kenai Peninsula. The State of Alaska recognizes brown bears on the Peninsula as a species of special concern. The group has also formally chartered the Interagency Brown Bear Study Team as a subcommittee to address long-term research and monitoring needs for Kenai brown bears.
