Journal Entry   Back U.S. FWService Co-Hosts the 2005 Spring Meeting of the Rio Grande Watershed Federal Coord Committee Southwest Region, April 26, 2005 Print Friendly Version On April 26-27, 2005, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, through the Middle Rio Grande Bosque Initiative, co-hosted with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the 2005 Spring Meeting of the Rio Grande Watershed Federal Coordinating Committee (RGWFCC). The RGWFCC is an interagency working group comprised of federal representatives of agencies of the U.S. Federal Government that have an interest in and commitment to the multi-system and whole-basin management of federal activities in the Rio Grande Watershed. The mission of the RGWFCC is to facilitate integrated management through sharing information and expertise, identifying, developing and communicating priorities, and collaborating actively and assisting in coordinated efforts with each other and other agencies. Approximately 30 representatives from various Federal agencies attended the spring meeting which included a half day field trip. The Service's Upper/Middle and Lower Rio Grande Ecoteam representatives opened up the meeting with the presentation ?Action Plan for Ecosystem Conservation?. Federal agencies participating included: Environmental Protection Agency; Bureau of Reclamation; Bureau of Indian Affairs; Army Corps of Engineers; National Park Service; National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; Bureau of Land Management; U.S. Geological Survey; Natural Resources Conservation Service; and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Most agencies had representatives from TX and NM. The following Congressional Delegates were also represented: Congressman Salazar (CO); Senator Domenici (NM); Senator Bingaman (NM); Senator Udal (NM) and Congressman Reyes (TX). Additionally, Ms. Derrith Watchman-Moore, Deputy Cabinet Secretary, New Mexico Environment Department, attended the field trip portion of the meeting. The meeting, held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico, located immediately adjacent to the Rio Grande, was a great success.
