Journal Entry   Back Great Texas Birding Classic Southwest Region, April 24, 2005 Print Friendly Version Corpus Christi Ecological Services Field Office (CCESFO) personnel assisted youth teams as they competed in the Great Texas Birding Classic. This year was the 9th Annual Birding Classic whose mission is to raise money for bird habitat conservation through competition. The competition began April 16th, 2005, and concluded April 24th, 2005. The youth team competition, called ?Roughwings?, is for kids 13 years of age or younger. CCESFO staff assisted in the competition by providing team captains for 6 Roughwings teams. Captains assisted the youth in bird identification. The CCESFO also provided the youth with binoculars to use for the day. In preparation, staff also met with the kids in days preceding the tournament to help practice the use of binoculars and improve their birding skills.
