Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program assists National Fish and Wildlife Foundation in Field Tour
Southwest Region, April 16, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On April 15 ? 16, 2005, Don Wilhelm, PFW State Coordinator, assisted with a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) sponsored field trip to a ranch owned by a PFW cooperator in Palo Pinto County, Texas. In attendance were personnel from Regional and Washington offices of NFWF, a NFWF National board member, and a few private landowners. Also assisting NFWF on the field trip were biologists with Environmental Defense who have been surveying/monitoring the PFW project area for status information on endangered golden-cheeked warblers and black-capped vireos for the previous three years. NFWF recently awarded Environmental Defense a grant to assist ED with their ongoing efforts to implement golden-cheeked warbler and black-capped vireo habitat restoration and enhancement activities on other ranches in north central Texas. Most attendees either saw or heard a singing male golden-cheeked warbler.
