Minnesota Bald Eagle Nest Survey
Midwest Region, April 14, 2005
Print Friendly Version
During the month of April 2005, biologists from the Twin Cities and Rock Island Field Offices, along with Regional Office biologists, flew aerial surveys of bald eagle nests in southern Minnesota. This was a pilot effort, in coordination with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, to assess the nesting success of the federally threatened bald eagle as the Service continues to move ahead with the delisting process of the bald eagle.

Thirty-two randomly selected 10 x 10 kilometer plots were sampled scattered from Brainerd area to the southern border. Twelve active eagle nests were observed during leaves-off conditions within the 32 plots.
