Journal Entry   Back Aravaipa EM Plan Public Workshop Southwest Region, March 5, 2005 Print Friendly Version AZ ES staff attended the public workshop for the Aravaipa Ecosystem Management Area Plan. This workshop, organized by the BLM-Safford Field Office, The Nature Conservancy and Arizona Game and Fish Department, was held to have interested public develop possible objectives for the new plan. Specific workgroups were identified (such as transportation, upland resources, recreation), and the attendees participated in the group they were most interested, led by a BLM employee. AZ ES staff participated mainly in the wildlife workgroup, but coordinated throughout the day with other workgroups. Objectives and some management actions were proposed. Each of the workgroups will continue to develop objectives and management actions, both through additional meetings and through correspondence. The BLM will continue to lead these workgroups, and document the products produced. The intent is that the objectives and management actions will be considered for inclusion in the plan, and in developing alternatives for analysis. AZ ES staff will continue to be involved through one or more of these workgroups, offering input on objectives and management actions. AZ ES has also offered to review the objectives and management actions of all the workgroups and identify those that may be a concern for federally listed species, and that may help to recover those species.
