Journal Entry   Back Private Stewardship Grant Program - Chiricahua Leopard Frog and the Alamosa Springsnail Southwest Region, February 22, 2005 Print Friendly Version New Mexico Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program (PFW) staff executed a Private Lands Agreement to restore approximately 40 acres of riparian habitat on private lands located along Alamosa Creek in Socorro County, New Mexico. The Cooperator, a local community association, was awarded a grant through the Service's Private Stewardship Grant Program. The project includes eradication of salt cedar (Tamarisk spp.), an exotic invasive plant, to restore and improve riparian habitat for the Chiricahua leopard frog, a federally threatened species, and to prevent invasive plant species encroachment into warm springs occupied by the federally endangered, Alamosa springsnail.
