PUBLIC AWARENESS OF WILDLIFE CONCERNS IN AN URBAN WATERSHED
Southwest Region, January 24, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The Corpus Christi Ecological Services Field Office (CCESFO), in conjunction with the Center for Coastal Studies, prepared and gave a presentation on the Wildlife of the Oso Watershed for the Oso Watershed Steering Committee. The CCESFO has been participating in this watershed conservation effort over the past two years by helping to organize a smart growth workshop and through participation on the City of Corpus Christi's Stormwater Advisory Committee. Subsequent to the May 2004 workshop, the City of Corpus Christi and other partners received a National Park Service (NPS) grant that pays for a NPS facilitator to help in development of a watershed parks and greenway plan. The goals of this project include identification of existing habitat to be preserved by the City and other conservation organizations, as well as better use of the stormwater system to both improve water quality in Oso Creek and Oso Bay and to enhance existing habitat values.
