NEW ATTRACTION AT SULLY?S HILL NATIONAL GAME PRESERVE
Mountain-Prairie Region, February 1, 2005
Print Friendly Version
North Dakota is not exactly famous for its elk. So, the majestic bull elk mount in the new visitor/conservation center at Sully's Hill National Game Preserve near Devils Lake is a real attention-getter. A $14,000 grant from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation paid for the mount as well as interactive interpretive panels that will be added in the summer of 2005. The 1,675-acre fenced Preserve includes a small herd of re-introduced elk, so the mount fits in well. Foundation spokesman Brad Heidel says the display fulfills his organization's mission of educating people about elk and their habitat. The Preserve attracts about 40,000 visitors each year.
