Programmatic EIS for Management Activities in the Rio Grande and Tijuana River Basins
Southwest Region, January 12, 2005
Print Friendly Version
On January 12, 2005, the New Mexico Ecological Services Field Office Federal Activities Branch attended a United States Section, International and Boundary Water Commission (USIBWC) public meeting for a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS). The USIBWC will be preparing a PEIS for its flood control projects within the Rio Grande and the Tijuana River Basins. The PEIS will analyze and evaluate the impacts of potential maintenance and construction activities by the USIBWC that would meet its mandate for flood protection and water deliveries, while identifying opportunities for environmental enhancements and recreation. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be participating as a cooperating agency in the PEIS to identify ways to protect, maintain, and improve fish and wildlife resources and their habitats along the Rio Grande.
