LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) PROJECTS
Southwest Region, January 21, 2005
Print Friendly Version
Corpus Christi Ecological Service Field Office (CCESFO) staff reviewed two Draft Environmental Impact Statements (DEIS) for LNG terminals and associated pipelines that are proposed for construction along the La Quinta Channel, within San Patricio and Nueces Counties, Texas. Exxon M/Mobil has proposed to build the Vista Del Sol LNG Project and Cheniere Energy has proposed to build the Corpus Christi LNG Project. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is the lead federal agency for preparing NEPA documents for the LNG terminal projects. The Service is participating as a cooperating agency with FERC for these projects. Other agencies involved in the development and review of both projects include U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and Texas General Land Office (TGLO).
