KENAI: Students Participate in Environmental Education Activities
Alaska Region, November 1, 2004
Print Friendly Version
Kenai National Wildlife Refuge offers an environmental education (EE) program to area students including eight different field trip options. During Fall 2004, 1,179 students participated in Refuge EE programs. Two new programs drew interest as well as the traditional offerings. Forty-one middle school students participated in the new "Exploring Forest Ecosystems" program, while 187 second grade students participated in the new "Habitat is Where It's At" field trip. Refuge EE programs continue to be popular with students, parents, and teachers and have traditionally been most enjoyed in fall and spring; however, new winter activities are also receiving increased interest.
