Prizes and refreshments for the event were provided by Friends of St Catherine Creek Refuge. Prizes were awarded in two age categories for biggest fish, smallest fish and most fish caught. The young fishermen also participated in a casting contest. Winners received tackle boxes and rod/reel combo sets and all participants received a fishing-related door prize. The young fishermen were also given a "goody bag" filled with fishing paraphernalia, refuge related stickers, pencils and tattoos, as well as other items provided through the support of Walmart.com. Last but far from least, was support provided by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks. The state agency stocks the small pond with approximately 700 to 1000 catfish annually, without which the event could not be so successful. A great time was had by all and fishing success was excellent with a total catch of 355 fish.
