Tualatin River NWR Refuge Week 2004
Pacific Region, October 30, 2004
Print Friendly Version
Refuge Week 2004 events at Tualatin River NWR were a great success with over 225 people attending a variety of special events highlighting different aspects of the Refuge. Visitors explored the Refuge and the Tualatin River by canoe and naturalists guided early morning bird walks on the Dennis and Naujock units of the Refuge. In preparation for an upcoming restoration project, volunteers removed nearly a ½ mile of old fenceline on the Oleson unit of the Refuge. Volunteers also led hands-on activities and a lantern-lit night walk at Refuge Headquarters for the Creatures of the Night event. Three classrooms of environmental science students from George Fox University visited the Refuge to learn about a variety of floodplain ecosystems and to explore several Refuge restoration projects.

Special thanks go out to our partners for helping make Refuge Week at Tualatin River NWR possible. Contributing Refuge partners include: Friends of the Refuge, Raindrops to Refuge, Tualatin Riverkeepers, Backyard Bird Shop and SOLV.
