Journal Entry   Back Fifth Annual Youth Waterfowl Expo held at Anahuac NWR Southwest Region, October 9, 2004 Print Friendly Version The Anahuac NWR and several partner organizations hosted the fifth annual "Youth Waterfowl Expo" on October 12, 2004. This family-oriented special event was held in conjunction with National Wildlife Refuge Week, and was attended by over 150 children and accompanying adults, and the Blue Goose. It featured presentations on waterfowl banding, habitat management for wintering waterfowl, waterfowl identification, hunter safety and ethics, hunting regulations, care and cooking of waterfowl, an interactive "Shoot - No Shoot" video, and the always popular waterfowl calling presentation by Kelly Haydel of Haydel Game Calls. Partners included the Friends of Anahuac Refuge, Chambers County, Oyster Bayou Hunt Club, Central Flyway Outfitters and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Twenty youths between the ages of nine and seventeen were lucky raffle winnters of a free guided hunt on hunt club lands over the holidays.
