National Wildlife Refuge Week Celebration at Kilauea Point NWR

Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge celebrated National Wildlife Refuge Week with guided hikes to observe the refuges hidden treasures. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, October 12, 14, and 15 Park Rangers lead hikes up Crater Hill to observe refuge conservation efforts and enjoy breathtaking views. On Wednesday, Refuge Biologist Brenda Zaun lead a natural history hike up Crater Hill featuring Kauai's famous seabirds and Nene. On Saturday, longtime Kilauea resident Gary Smith lead a hike up Crater Hill and on out to Mokolea Point giving hikers an insight to the human history of the area. All hikes were well attended and a great success.
