Journal Entry   Back KENAI: Refuge Celebrates Wildlife with Wildlife Photographer Alaska Region, October 22, 2004 Print Friendly Version The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and Kenai Convention and Visitors' Bureau co-hosted Karen Hollingsworth's multi-media presentation, "Let's Go Wild." The National Wildlife Refuge Week event was enjoyed by a full house on Friday night, October 22, 2004 in Kenai. Ms. Hollingsworth, who also gave presentations in Anchorage and Homer, has explored over 400 national wildlife refuges and her photographs regularly appear in national magazines, as well as in several popular books to which she has contributed. National Wildlife Refuge Week is a special time each year where people from all over America celebrate the National Wildlife Refuge System and its 544 refuges dedicated to conservation of fish and wildlife. The System spans approximately 100 million acres and is home to more than 700 species of birds, 220 species of mammals, and 250 reptile and amphibian species, and is enjoyed by millions of Americans each year.
