Ridgefield NWR Bird Festival

Ridgefield NWR held its annual bird festival October 8 - October 10. Over 2000 visitors flocked to the refuge Auto Tour Route during the 2 and a half day event with still others visiting the walking trails of the Refuge. The kick-off auction event held by the Friends of Ridgefield NWR raised $11,000. Visitors were able to view approximately 800 sandhill cranes as they flew in to roost for the night. They also attended bird walks, cultural and historical presentations, avian presentations, refuge tours, and children's events.
