Mora NFH&TC Hosts "Outdoor Classroom"
Southwest Region, October 7, 2004
Print Friendly Version
"Outdoor Classroom" is a program sponsored by Mora-Wagon Mound Soil and Water Conservation Districts to educate school aged youths on natural resources and issues in the surrounding area. Six agencies and one private entity presented a program for 50 fourth-graders from Mora Middle School.

Agencies included the Bureau of Land Management and Fish & Wildlife Service, the Natural Resource Conservation Service, the New Mexico Game and Fish Department, New Mexico State University-Mora Research Center, Tierra Montes Soil Conservation District, and Tapetes de Lana Weaving Center.

This provides an opportunity for youths to be exposed to soil, range, and watershed scientists, wildland firefighters, game wardens, silviculturists, fishery biologists and naturalistic weaving processes.
