Bears Bluff NFH hosts successful June fishing event for kids
Southeast Region, June 12, 2004
Print Friendly Version
Some 55 children and adult chaperones attended a June 12, 2004, fishing event at Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery. The hatchery, assisted by the Charleston ES office, hosted its annual Kid's Fishing Day, where children 12 and under were allowed to fish for largemouth bass, catfish, and bream until early afternoon. Prizes were awarded for the largest fish caught (by species) and the most fish caught. Approximately 55 children and adult chaperones attended the event, many of which had never been fishing before. The Bears Bluff NFH takes pride in making fishing accessible to young people through this event, which is very popular in the local area. Local businesses and civic organizations contributed prizes, food, and refreshments for the event.
