Regional Office Green Committee Wins Award

The Southeast Regional Office has won the Service's National Environmental Leadership Award for implementing green building practices in the regional office. This prestigious award was conferred on the Region's Green Building Committee; a group of regional employees who have taken the initiative to make the regional office more environmentally-friendly. The regional office was cited for improving their green building practices. Accomplishments include expanding the recycling program to include all paper products which resulted in a 500% increase in paper recycling during the first six months and renegotiating the building lease to include green practices such as using low energy lighting, green cleaning products, and planting of a native plant butterfly garden.
