KENAI: Refuge Friends Complete Spring Clean-up
Alaska Region, May 15, 2004
Print Friendly Version
Friends of Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, a volunteer non-profit organization of local citizens that work to support Refuge goals, completed their annual spring cleaning of Refuge road-sides and lakes last week. The Friends group has adopted a portion of the Sterling Highway, where up to 2 1/2 million visitors enter the Refuge each year. The group also paddles around road accessible lakes near Refuge campgrounds collecting discarded cans and bottles and other litter. The work completed in 2004 marks the fourth year the clean up activities have been undertaken.
