Northeast Region, January 18, 2004
Print Friendly Version
The Lake Champlain Fish and Wildlife Resources Office cooperated with Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge to represent the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the 2004 Yankee Sportsman Classic in January. Yankee Sportsman Classic is the largest fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation exposition held in the State of Vermont. The 2004 show attracted over 20,000 visitors. The exposition consisted of displays from various outdoor product vendors, conservation organizations and natural resources agencies. Visitors were invited to attend and participate in a host of educational seminars and informational presentations.

The Lake Champlain/Missisquoi booth featured an exhibit on ?What is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service." The display also included information on refuge programs, the Northeast Region Fisheries program, the Partners for Fish and Wildlife program, and the Lake Champlain sea lamprey control program. Highlights of the display included a live sea lamprey and a slide presentation of activities associated with the resources office and the refuge. Staff were present the entire weekend to answer questions and promote the Service's mission.
