On January 13, at the Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, Mass., 67 teachers and classroom volunteers from western Massachusetts learned what a healthy river looks like and what it takes to fix a sick stream. The teachers will take this information and lots of other facts back to their students. Hundreds of students will then have the opportunity to raise and release Atlantic salmon as they assume the role of classroom-based natural resource stewards.

This is a watershed-based conservation education program cooperatively conducted by Trout Unlimited, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.
