Journal Entry   Back Volunteers Tally 79 Bird Species During Muscatatuck NWR Christmas Bird Count Midwest Region, January 21, 2004 Print Friendly Version Volunteers at Indiana's Muscatatuck NWR inventoried the refuge's bird population during its annual "Christmas Bird Count," Jan. 1, 2004. A record 45 birders participated in the annual refuge count. Seventy-nine bird species were identified on the refuge, a near record! A much-appreciated hot-lunch was provided to the partipating birders by the refuge friends group, the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society.
