Northeast Region, October 19, 2003

Link to Northeast Region, USFWS; map of regionThe Ohio River Valley Ecosystem Team brought watershed outreach to Cincinatti's huge Tall Stacks Festival, held Oct. 14-19 on the Ohio River waterfront. Held every four years, Tall Stacks focuses on steamboats and their era and celebrates the related music, art and heritage of the Cincinnati area. In an educational area designated ?The Ohio, Naturally,? the ecosystem team shared a tent with one of its partners, the Ohio River Foundation. The team presented a watershed display and an interactive game highlighting the wildlife resources and issues in the Ohio River Valley ecosystem. It also featured the centennial celebration of the National Wildlife Refuge System.

Although Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge took the lead on this project, cross-regional cooperation made it a success. The Midwest, Southeast and Northeast regions all contributed to its development and implementation.
