BIGP Grant Approved for Fulton, Illinois Marina
Midwest Region, October 21, 2003
Print Friendly Version
In FY 2001, the City of Fulton, Illinois was awarded a Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program grant in the amount of $898,768. Documentation for this project has recently been completed and the grant monies, along with local matching funds, will be used to construct new and renovate existing boating access facilities on the Mississippi River. The improvements will provide access for larger (26? and longer) transient recreational boats. Planned improvements include the installation of transient boat slips with electric and water hook-ups, a service building, a floating fuel building, pedestrian lighting, erosion control and dredging.

Improved access to the marina was necessary to help meet an increasing demand for recreational boating facilities and to enhance safety and improve accessibility for disabled users. Additionally, more people will be able to take advantage of the many recreational, historical, natural, cultural and scenic resources that are part of this National Scenic Byway.
