Baja California’s Chapter of the National Association of the Construction Industry (CMIC) has announced the 7th Edition of the “Expo-Construcción Internacional Tijuana 2009” to take place from May 28-30, 2009.
About the Expo
Expo Construcción
(or MexConstruct) has been certified by the U.S.
Department of Commerce as an exhibition that offers excellent
opportunities for U.S. companies interested in exporting to the
Mexican market. The show expects the participation of 100
exhibitors and attendance of over 4,000 visitors involved in
Mexico’s construction industry and will take place in an area
adjacent to Tijuana’s City Hall.
The exhibition features the participation of manufacturers and distributors of materials to the construction industry in Mexico, including suppliers of equipment, machinery, architect and engineering services and water treatment related equipment, services and materials.
Why attend?
The construction sector in Baja California has registered
substantial investment and growth in the last years. The sector
attracted 49 percent of all direct investment in the State, as
compared to 35 percent in the manufacturing industry, and 13
percent in the services sector. Half of the total investment consisted of low-end housing (one and
two bedrooms). This type of housing remains in great
demand. The need for housing is due to the high population growth
in large part caused by the significant number of people
emigrating from other parts of Mexico attracted by employment
opportunities.
The proximity of Baja California to the United States gives U.S. suppliers the advantage in the region’s construction sector.
