How do I send mail to an inmate?
You may send post cards no larger that 5 x 7 mail via United States Postal Service Only.
INMATES WILL BE ALLOWED UP TO 10 PHOTOS NO LARGER THAN 4” X 6THIS WILL BE ALLOWED ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS DURING YOUR INCARCERATED PERIOD. THE FOLLOWING ARE THE STEPS
1. Inmate request picture permit verbally or through inmate Request to Unit Manager.
2. Unit Manager will approve or deny permit and return to the Permit to the Inmate. Unit Manager will retain a copy also.
3. Inmate will be instructed to mail approved permit to Person requesting to mail pictures in. Permit must be in envelope with pictures addressed as follows:

Magazines of any kind or hard cover books are not permitted, however paperback books (limited to 3) may be sent via a publisher or publishing company only using the address listed. How do I send or provide money to an inmate? You mail in or bring a Money order or Cashier’s check to the jail made payable to the inmate with the inmate’s number. This facility will not accept cash, credit, debit cards, personal, or two party checks for any reasons. What do I need to do to Post Bond for someone? You are required to have a cashier’s check or money orders totaling the exact amount of the bond, a valid state issued ID and proper mailing address. When using a Bonding agent they will call the facility to gather and verify information they require. Where do I need to go to post Bond? Bonds may be posted here at the Detention center 24 hours a day including weekends and holidays. During normal business hours, you may go to the issuing court and post the bond. If more that one court is involved, separate payment is required for each court.
Note: subject must be currently in custody of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office to post bonds at the Detention Facility. To whom do I pay the Bond? All Child Support Bonds shall be made payable to the Clerk of the Superior Court for the County in which the warrant was issued.
Ex: Pinal County Clerk of the Superior Court, Graham County Clerk of the Superior Court ect… Bond posted at the Detention Facility on behalf of City, J.P. or Superior Court Charges are to be made payable to Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. Why do you need my family member’s insurance information? To verify coverage. Some insurance companies may cover needed outside medical care such as hospitalization and/or specialty clinics. Can my family member use our private physician while in jail? No. PCSO has a physician. The records from the private physician can be obtained following guidelines of HIPPA to establish Continuity of Care. Will my family member get adequate medical care while in Jail? (Medical) PCSO Correctional Health Service is responsible for providing medical to the Pinal County Inmates. Pinal County has a moral and legal obligation to provide health care for those people whom it incarcerates. Why do you make them pay for medical care? (Medical)
The cost of medical care is an increasingly heavy burden on the financial resources of the county, and it’s tax payers.
Sick call can be and is abused by some inmates. It will do away with frivolous requests for medical attention. (NCCHC, 2003) Will my family member get to see a religious leader while in Jail? Yes, we have a contract through Good News Jail and Ministries, which cover most religions. The inmates Religious leaders are also welcome to make use of the normal visitation hours if needed. Their visit will count as a regular visit. Will my family member get enough to eat while in Jail? Three meals are feed each day in the facility, ranging in calorie count of 3000-3200 calories per day. Medical staff sees to any special needs of inmates including diabetic, allergy, low carb, low salt, and pregnancy needs. Why do you take $2.00 per day from his/her account? As permitted by A.R.S. 31-121 Section B “the sheriff may establish procedures to recover from the inmate the cost of providing the inmate with necessary food. The cost to the inmate shall not exceed two dollars per day. All meal costs recovered from the inmate shall be used for meal preparation or to improve meal quality.” How do I visit someone in Jail?
During normal visitation hours, all visitors should check in at the main lobby counter, pick up an inmate visitation form, after completion it is to be turned over to the Detention Aide located behind the counter. When it is your turn the name of the inmate will be called, you should then return to the counter to be escorted to the visitation area. Notice: All visitors and vehicles are subject to search by Sheriff Office Personnel. What are the visiting hours? Sunday – Saturday 7:30AM - 8:00PM What identification do I have to have to visit? A valid State issued photo ID. Can I bring the children? Yes, children may visit with their parent, or legal guardian, proof of guardianship is required. How old must someone be to visit? Visitors must be of legal age 18 years, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, proof of guardianship is required. How do I get an emergency message to my family member in your custody?
Only verifiable emergency message will be passed to your family members, Contact should be made with the on duty supervisor, all information including, name of the person calling, nature of the emergency, inmate name, name of person the emergency involves, and their relationship to the inmate, phone numbers and contact persons other than those calling.
IE: Hospital, Doctor, Religious leader. What may I bring into the facility when I am visiting? We do not permit items to be brought in while visiting; we ask that you limit your personal items to car keys, and a valid stated issued identification card. Those visitors with infant children will be permitted, 1 bottle, 1 blanket, and 1 diaper. Other food and drink items are prohibited in the facility. What is the proper dress code for visitation? While it is impossible to cover all approved or unapproved clothing, common sense and good judgment should always be used. Clothing that is reveling, IE; low cut front,, tank tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, short shorts, see thru tops, and mini skirts are not permitted, We also restrict hats, sunglasses, purses, cell phones, along with all other electronic equipment. May I drop off clothing and food items for my family member? No, the facility will not accept food at any time. Clothing items may only be brought in for an Inmate that is to appear for a Jury Trial, These should be arranging thru the inmates Attorney of Record. All items used for trial must be picked up with in 5 business days of the close of the trail. How do I pick up my family members property? A family member in custody may summit a form releasing property to specific person. Property will be released once and only once. All Items held with the exception of clothing and shoes must be released at this time. Once the form is received by the property room the person specified is able to pick up property 7 days a week (Except Holidays) Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and weekends 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The person picking up the property must be the person listed and provide a valid State issued picture ID to pick up Property! If my family member has a complaint, how do they try to solve it? Complaints are first taken to the Officer assigned for each shift. If the Officer cannot satisfactorily solve the complaint, the Inmate will need to request to see a Supervisor. When a Supervisor cannot resolve the issue, the next step is to file a Grievance through the Grievance Procedure. Instructions on how to do this properly are placed on the bulletin boards in each Housing Unit. Complaints of a frivolous nature will not be accepted. What happens if our family member gets in trouble while in jail? Will they have to stay there longer? Disciplinary does not add more time unless they are charged criminally. If they do not follow rules within the facility they will lose privileges such as visitation, commissary and possible segregation from other Inmates. What if my family member has an appointment with an outside physician while in jail? Due to security reasons, outside appointments are cancelled and jail medical provider reviews medical issues. What happens if a family member in jail is indigent “without money?” No inmate is denied medical care because of a record of non-payment or current inability to pay. What is the estimated time for an inmate’s release? Releases can take up to 4 hours from the time the release paper work is received from the court and/or bond is posted. How can my family members contact me? Inmates are allowed to use the phones in their housing areas from 0600 until 930pm unless restrictions are put in place due to security reasons. All phone calls are collect or through the use of a phone card purchased from Public Communications Services Inc. They can also contact you through the US Postal Service. |
