Strategic Agriculture Initiative
The Strategic Agricultural Initiative (SAI) is EPA's outreach program to facilitate the adoption of pest management practices that help growers reduce use of high-risk pesticides. Through its grant program, SAI helps growers adopt pest management practices that are safer and more environmentally sound, that better serve commodity groups and growers locally, and that support the implementation of the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) nationally.
To this end, the SAI program developed a web-based" toolbox" designed to provide one-stop access to program information including:
- information on integrated pest management (IPM) resources for grantees and grant applicants
- information on funding opportunities
- a database of the SAI grants funded across the country
- a menu of performance measures to help prospective grantees satisfy the measurement requirement for grant proposals.
Developed in partnership with American Farmland Trust, the SAI toolbox is located on the Strategic Agricultural Initiative Toolbox web site.
