Poverty guidelines for 2008–2009
The following chart is from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). To determine your family size, count your children if they receive more than half their support from you, and count other persons if they live with you as well as receive more than half their support from you currently and for the foreseeable future. Support includes money, gifts, loans, housing, food, clothes, car, medical and dental care, payment of college costs, and so on.
Next, find the column that represents your place of residence. Read down to your family size. This is the poverty guideline for you.
