P3 Research Project Search
Appalachian State University students will develop a sustainable education facility to promote and demonstrate small-scale biodiesel processing while providing hands-on research opportunities. This closed loop system design includes: solar thermal heating, wastewater bio-remediation, passive solar greenhouse, methanol recovery, soap making, and composting.
Portland State University students will create an interactive website for 4th to 8th grade educators and students in Portland Public Schools that effectively conveys the principles of whole systems design.
University of Iowa and Iowa Department of Natural Resources will develop an intern exchange program with Xicotepec de Juarez, Puebla, Mexico and the University of Iowa for students studying pollution prevention. The program will improve the effectiveness of all students by making them more aware of differing cultural and industrial settings.
Stanford University students will explore sustainable building technologies and sustainable living habits through the design, construction, and operation of an innovative facility containing residential, laboratory and common space. Central to the Green Dorm is an accurate building systems metering network that will feed a central database, rendering this "living laboratory" an ideal testing facility for innovative building system designs.
