Subject: Live Internet Webinar Series on Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA)

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid’s instructor-led, online training sessions on the HEOA.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce instructor-led, online training that will focus on selected provisions of the Higher Education Opportunity Act (the HEOA), Pub L. 110-315. The HEOA was enacted on August 14, 2008 and reauthorizes the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (the HEA). We will present this training in two parts.

Part I will cover changes to:

  • Title IV Grant Programs

  • Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program

  • Need Analysis

  • General Provisions

Part II will cover changes to:

  • Title I of the HEA

  • Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program

  • William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program

  • Federal Perkins Loan Program

We will present each part in a 90-minute session and will offer the session on three different days to provide ample opportunity for those interested in attending. The schedule is as follows:

Part I – Grants, FWS, Need Analysis, and General Provisions

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.
