Overview

Mycotoxin (MTX) identifies the genetics that allow fungi to produce the toxins (mycotoxins) commonly found in commodities and foods that cause damage to crops, animals and people.  From baby foods to biofuel byproducts that are fed to animals, this research team works to help guarantee those products are safe for consumption. They are the world’s leader in identifying the genetics of mycotoxins and work closely with all the major seed companies. Their knowledge has provided the basis for many of the genetic tools used in developing disease resistant germplasm, and for many of the current commercial test kits used to detect these toxins.  Learn more about MTX research projects here.
