Subject: Distribution of 2009-2010 Renewal FAFSA Reminders Begins January 15, 2009
As we first informed you in a November 5, 2008 Electronic Announcement, we will begin sending 2009-2010 Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) reminder notifications to students on January 15, 2009. The distribution will continue through February 16, 2009.
Students who are renewal-eligible for 2009-2010 and who qualify for reminders by January 11, 2009 will be sent Renewal Reminder notifications. Eligible students who provided e-mail addresses on their 2008-2009 records will receive 2009-2010 Renewal Reminder e-mails. Renewal-eligible students whose records do not have e-mail addresses with valid syntax, or whose Renewal Reminder e-mails are returned as undeliverable, will be mailed 2009-2010 Renewal Reminder letters, provided there is a deliverable mailing address.
Please note the following additional information:
- A student may become renewal-eligible for 2009-2010 after January 11, 2009, if he or she initially files a 2008-2009 FAFSA or if a correction is made to his or her 2008-2009 record after January 11 that creates a renewal-eligible record. Such a student is eligible to complete the 2009-2010 renewal application, but will not receive a Renewal Reminder e-mail or letter.
- We will not send Renewal Reminders to renewal-eligible
students who already have a processed 2009-2010 FAFSA by January 11, 2009.
