Changes in the Presentation of the U.S. International Transactions Accounts

There are several changes in the presentation of the U.S. International Transactions Accounts with the release of estimates on June 17, 2008. The changes are summarized below.

  • Modification of table 2a to present estimates for additional detailed end-use categories.
  • Renumbering of table 3 to table 3b.
  • Addition of new table 3a titled “Private Services Transactions” that includes new estimates for royalties and fees and “other private services” by detailed type of activity for affiliated and unaffiliated transactions. The new estimates begin in the first quarter of 2006. Prior to the first quarter of 2006, estimates by detailed type of activity include only unaffiliated transactions. The totals for royalties and license fees (lines 7 and 29) and “other private services” (lines 13 and 35) have always included both affiliated and unaffiliated transactions.
  • Renumbering of tables 4 – 11 to tables 5 – 12 with no changes in content.
  • Addition of new table 4 titled “Investment Income” that includes detailed estimates for direct investment income, for “other” private income, and for U.S. Government income.
  • Addition of new table 12 area titled “Members of OPEC.”
