Jerome Kenneth Kingzio, age 28, of Saipan, sentenced to 21 days imprisonment for assaulting a fellow passenger on an airline flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu on March 21, 2009.

A federal jury returned guilty verdicts against Oahu resident Allan Aquino Lafuente for the following crimes that occurred in late 2005 - early 2006:

-One count of conspiring to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine;
-Two counts of distributing five grams or more of methamphetamine;
-One count of possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine; and
-One count of carrying a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking offense.

David Silivano Gilliam, entered a plea of not guilty to a six-count indictment returned on February 11, 2009. GILLIAM, a former Captain in the United States Army, is charged with theft of government property, bulk cash smuggling, interstate and foreign transportation of stolen money, money laundering, and making false statements to federal officers.

United States Attorney Ed Kubo yesterday announced the unsealing of an Indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Hawaii on January 7, 2009, charging HENRY CALUCAG, aka “Hank Jacinto”, and DEBRA ANAGARAN, both of Honolulu, with financial crimes relating to their acquisition in 1990 of a residence formerly belonging to Hawaii resident Arthur Spooner Young.

Yong Sang Kim, age 38, was sentenced today by Chief District Judge Helen Gillmor to 36 months in prison for his role in operating an illegal gambling business on Oahu.

Patricia Cleary Syling, 39, of Lutz, Florida, pled guilty today in federal district court to all eight counts of mail fraud with which she had been charged by a federal grand jury last year.

Chief United States District Judge Helen Gillmor sentenced co-defendants Lauolefiso Afo and Joe Daniels, to prison terms of 185 months and 170 months, respectively, upon their convictions for conspiracy to distribute, attempted distribution, and possession with intent to distribute approximately 50 pounds of methamphetamine.

At a separate sentencing hearing, a third co-defendant, Junior Auelua, was sentenced to a 185-month prison term for violations arising from the same 50-pound shipment.

A Honolulu jury returned guilty verdicts against Kauai resident Darwin Leones, age 27, for federal firearms trafficking and possession offenses.

A federal jury returned a verdict finding Nelson Gaitan-Ayala, of Las Vegas, Nevada, guilty of conspiracy to possess and distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine; distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine; and using a cell phone to assist in the distribution of drugs.

A federal jury returned verdicts today finding Arnold Luna and Shana Galan, guilty of aiding and abetting the distribution of methamphetamine within one thousand feet of Honolulu Community College which is located within the Downtown/Kalihi Weed and Seed site.

Honolulu physician, Barry N. Odegaard, M.D., sentenced to five years imprisonment and a fine of $12,500 for illegally distributing and dispensing Oxycontin, a prescription drug containing oxycodone, a controlled substance.

Henry Hung Nguyen, a licensed Honolulu notary faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to 10 counts of false notary certification stemming from a joint probe by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) into allegations he notarized information on applications for immigrant visas knowing the information was false.

United States Attorney for Hawaii, Ed Kubo, announced today that the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) of the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the State of Hawaii Department of Attorney General, a $468,870 federal grant to assist its Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to locate, arrest, and prosecute child sexual predators and to further enforce state offender registration laws.

Rodney Ballesteros, sentenced to six (6) months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, community service, and a $2,000 fine. This follows Ballesteros' guilty plea to dealing in explosive materials without a license in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 842(a)(1).

The civil injunction orders were entered by Senior Judge Samuel P. King against Morgan Liddell, Cherie Bright, Loren Trenholm and Edward Coda as well as two companies-Bright Enterprises and Hawaii Financial Specialists.
