ENERGY STAR Purchasing & Procurement resources include lists of qualifying products, key product criteria, drop-in procurement language and savings calculators. Organizations can use these resources to facilitate the procurement of energy-efficient ENERGY STAR products and prevent greenhouse gas emissions.

ENERGY STAR makes it easy for organizations to purchase energy-efficient products, reduce their energy costs, and prevent air pollution. Institutions and businesses can save hundreds of thousands of dollars annually by purchasing and using ENERGY STAR labeled and Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) recommended products. When purchasing residential or commercial clothes washers, add the following requirements to your specifications to ensure you receive ENERGY STAR labeled appliances. For additional considerations regarding the purchase of an energy-efficient clothes washer, please view the clothes washer purchasing tips.

Clothes Washers (Standard capacity — 1.6 cubic feet or greater) — A Modified Energy Factor (MEF) of 1.72 or greater and a Water Factor (WF) of 8.0 or lower.

The Vendor Must:

Provide clothes washers that bear the ENERGY STAR label and meet the ENERGY STAR specifications for energy efficiency. The vendor is encouraged to view an updated list of qualifying products.
