Q. What are the Court's hours of operation?
A. The Newark Immigration Court is open for business Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.


Q. How can I file my documents?
A.
The Court accepts documents ( filed in accordance with the Local Rules) in person during the hours of operation or by mail.


Q. What do I do if I don't remember the date and/or time of my hearing?
A. Please call 1-800-898-7180. This is an automated system that allows you to obtain information about your case.


Q. What should I expect when I arrive at the building?
A. All persons entering the Building must pass through a metal detector. All packages, briefcases, etc. will be x-rayed. No cameras or video equipment is allowed in the building. The building is a smoke-free facility.


Q. Is food allowed in the courtrooms?
A.
No. Food and beverages are not permitted in the Courtrooms.


Q. How do I notify the Court if I change my address or move out of the state?
A.
You must notify the Court of any change of address while under proceedings. Form EOIR-33, which is the form used to notify the Court of change of address can be obtained from the clerk or the Immigration Judge. This form must be submitted within five days from the date of your move. If you move out of state, you may request a "Change of Venue" from the Immigration Judge. However, until the Immigration Judge grants your request, you are required to appear at all scheduled hearings before the Court.


Q. Where do I pay fees for applications?
A.
The Court does not accept fees. Application fees and bonds are collected by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). There is an USCIS Cash Office located on the 3rd floor of this building, Room 306. The DHS Cash Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00AM - 3:30PM. The USCIS Cash Office accepts cash, checks or money orders. Please note the following:

1. Exact change ( no change will be given)

2. Checks issued in your name only and for the exact amount. You must present state or government issued identification (Driver's License, Alien Registration Card, Passport, etc). The cashier will not accept third party checks

3. Money order for the exact amount

All checks and money orders should be made payable to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
