Re: Reprocessing for Paper Renewal Application Question #30,
Degree/Program

NOTE: We are resending this network message to the EDE community because the CPS Customer Service phone number was incorrect in the original message. To contact CPS Customer Service regarding this message, please call 1-800-330-5947, option 2. We apologize for this error.

The Central Processing System (CPS) has determined that the response or the existing value to the Degree/Program question (FAFSA Question #30) from paper Renewal Applications was not put onto the CPS database, and thus onto SARs and ISIRs. This field was handled correctly for Renewal Applications sent via the electronic data exchange (EDE) process and those sent via Renewal App on the Web.

The CPS was corrected on 2/3/99 so all paper Renewal Applications processed on and after this date contain the correct value, either the new one reported by the student or the value from last year's application.

To correct the records already processed, the CPS will reprocess those paper Renewal Application batches received between 1/15/99 through 2/2/99 on February 23 and 24, 1999. ISIRs will be available to schools/state agencies on February 24 and 25, 1999. Those paper Renewal Applications which have not already been corrected by a student or a school will be reprocessed.
You will be able to identify these records by the following:

For institutions, ISIR batches will be transmitted to the Title IV WAN as a system-generated message class of SYSG00OP.

For state agencies, ISIR batches will be transmitted to the Title IV WAN as YDFN00OP and/or YDFR00OP message class.

Batch ranges:
#Y00000001999022300000X, where X = 1 to 5 #Y00000001999022400000X, where X = 1 to 5

System Generated Code = Z

Reprocess Reason = 01

Comment 172 will be on the SAR and ISIR

We regret the inconvenience this may have caused. Please contact CPS Customer Service at 800-330-5947, option 2 if you have any questions regarding this matter. You will not be charged for calls relating to this reprocessing.
