Dayton-area pediatrician arrested on child pornography charges

DAYTON, Ohio - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents arrested a local pediatrician here today on charges of possessing child pornography. The arrest resulted from an ICE criminal investigation.

Robert Reinhold, 55, Troy, Ohio, was arrested Wednesday. Reinhold had an initial appearance the same day in U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. He was ordered to remain in custody until his detention hearing on Oct. 29.

ICE agents executed federal search and arrest warrants today at Reinhold's residence and office. At the time of Reinhold's arrest, agents found concealed in a desk, 19 manila folders containing more than 1,700 images on 8"x11" paper, depicting minors in various stages of undress. This investigation and arrest are part of Operation Predator, a nationwide ICE initiative to protect children from sexual predators, including those who travel overseas for sex with minors, Internet child pornographers, criminal alien sex offenders, and child sex traffickers. Since Operation Predator was launched in July 2003, ICE agents have arrested more than 10,000 individuals, including more than 110 in Ohio.

ICE encourages the public to report suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its toll-free hotline at 1-866-DHS-2ICE. This hotline is staffed around the clock by investigators.

Suspected child sexual exploitation or missing children may be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, an Operation Predator partner, at 1-800-843-5678 or http://www.cybertipline.com
