Colorado Utilities and the Economic Stimulus Package

The economic stimulus package being considered by the Congress will likely make available, in a competitive grant process, very large financial resources for investment in energy infrastructure.  Access to these resources will require rapid response by Colorado utilities. The Commission desires that Colorado’s investor-owned electric and gas utilities maximize the scale and scope of the funding they seek in a Colorado proposal.

New Weekly Meeting Format

The PUC has changed the format of its weekly meeting agenda.  Essentially, the meeting will be divided into two parts – the first section of the meeting will be similar to a consent agenda and the second section of the meeting will be for items to be discussed.

The consent agenda will cover four agenda categories for all industries.  The categories are uncontested/consent items, referrals to administrative law judges, administrative items, and items that become effective by operation of law.  Although an item may appear on the first part of the agenda, the Commissioners may decide to move an item to the discussion section.

This new format will be followed beginning with the weekly meeting on Wednesday, March 4.  Please be patient with us, there are bound to be some glitches at first.  We’re hoping that the new format will make the meetings more efficient.

"Electronic Filing is coming to the PUC "

The Public Utilities Commission has launched a new, voluntary electronic filing system. The new system, once fully implemented, will reduce paperwork, cut costs and be much more convenient for filing parties.

For an interim period hard copy filings remain the official files while we work to ensure that all features of the system are working as expected. After the initial phase, all filings may be exclusively submitted and distributed electronically.

Among the benefits of the electronic filing system:

  • There is no cost to use this system.
  • Paper filings will be unnecessary, but remain an option.
  • Lag time between submission and receipt of filings is eliminated.
  • The system is available 24 hours per day.
  • Tools and reports allow filers to review and manage filings.
  • Search functionality allows users access to PUC documents.
Access the Electronic Filing System by clicking here, or by pressing the like named button to the left.
