This handbook outlines important information about permits issued by the Department of Environmental Protection. Five offices within the division issue permits: Air Quality, Mining and Reclamation, Oil and Gas, Waste Management, and Water Resources.

The handbook has a section for each office, which includes a matrix and a permit descriptions section. The matrix lists standard industrial codes (SIC) and tells which permits may apply to which codes. The permit descriptions section provides the following information about each permit:

  • Purpose
  • Who must apply
  • Related laws/rules
  • Length of permit
  • Fees
  • Typical requirements of owner/operator
  • Public participation
  • Renewal period
  • Contact
  • Application processing time
