Roger Tang Group

On March 3 and 4, 2008 Roger Tang visited Sacramento California on an official U.S. Department of Commerce temporary duty (TDY) assignment from China. Mr. Tang was hosted and accompanied by Director George Tastard of the Sacramento U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC). Mr. Tang met with local Sacramento USEAC clients to outreach and brief them on the opportunities available in the Chinese Market.

Fangqiang (Roger) Tang is the Commercial Specialist at the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu, China. He is responsible for the promotion of U.S. exports in the following sectors: agribusiness & processed food, financial services, and other professional services. Prior to joining the U.S. Commercial Service, Mr. Tang worked as Government Affairs Manager for Intel Chengdu Products Co., LTD, and was principally involved with community and government outreach. From 1997-2005, Roger served as Deputy Representative at the Netherlands Business Support Office (Chengdu), where he assisted  Dutch companies, in particular small and mid-sized companies, with market assessment, matchmaking, and business development in the region.

Director Tastard and CS Tang had one-on-one meetings with the following Sacramento USEAC companies: KOR-IT, INC.; HCC Industries, ACINA International, Inc.; E*HealthLine.com, Inc.; Ealing Catalog and NMI Industrial Contractors.  During the one-on-one meetings, Tang received overviews of the companies as well as their business goals in China.  Tang and Tastard co-counseled the companies on international and specific Chinese market entry strategies.

On Monday, March 3, 2008 Tastard and Tang drove out to USEAC companies at their specific location and had in-office visits.  The day concluded with a Market Briefing and Mixer at the Delta King on the river in Old Sacramento.  The Market Briefing and Mixer were made possible by Northern California World Trade Center, Executive Director Dion Dwyer and Program Manager Jennifer Younathan.  Sacramento Export Assistance Center and Northern California World Trade Center are long time business partners.  The Market briefing and Mixer included a presentation by Mr. Tang as well as opportunities for clients to mix and mingle with Roger Tang, George Tastard and others.  Delta King hosted the event gratis, where eleven people were in attendance. On the following Tuesday, Director Tastard and CS Tang had an in-depth consultation with NMI Industrial Contractors on tomato processing in China.

The TDY was a great success. CS Roger Tang’s visit gave Sacramento clients valuable insight of the Chinese Market. The Sacramento USEAC will follow up with all seven companies regarding their interest in the Chinese and other international markets.
