SYNOPSIS
The mission of the Education and Workforce programs is to achieve excellence in computing and information technology education in order to support the development of a diverse and well-prepared workforce of professionals in the field of computing and information technology, across a wide range of application domains and career fields. This is accomplished through developing and sustaining a broad, highly productive, professional workforce, with knowledge and understanding of critical computing concepts, methodologies, and tools, and capable of interacting with all sectors of our society. The main goals of the EWF programs are to:
- Promote and enable excellence in computing education through integration of research and education.
- Provide leadership and engage communities in infusing computational thinking into education at all levels and across disciplinary boundaries to insure that our computing workforce is prepared to sustain our nation’s global competitive goals.
- Develop and support sustainable communities of researchers involved in innovative and transformative computing education.
- Transform computing education at all levels and on a national scale to meet the challenges and opportunities of a world where computing is increasingly essential to all sectors of society.
- Broaden participation in computing to ensure that the computing and information technology community is broadly representative of the nation’s individuals, geographic regions, and types of institutions.
- Recognize and support outstanding students and faculty in the field of computing and information technology to become knowledge experts who can contribute significantly to research, teaching, and innovations in the field of computing.
