Recreation Sites & Activities

The Owyhee Field Office offers a variety of recreational sites and facilities to help you enjoy the public lands of southwestern Idaho. Most of the recreation sites are semi-developed, which means that they provide basic facilities for camping or day-use. None of the sites have hook-ups for RVs, but tent camping is encouraged.

Visitors should understand that a substantial amount of self-sufficiency is required when navigating through this area. There are few signs, which leaves much interpretation and decision-making to the traveler, as well as danger from poison ivy and rattlesnakes. Visitors should arrive prepared with proper equipment, maps, compasses, clothing and knowledge of the general area and weather conditions to help ensure a safe trip.

Once proper precautions are taken, visitors can explore the expansive Idaho scenery without borders. While recreationists are encouraged to explore off the beaten path and camping is allowed in non-designated areas, please remember to stay on established roads and trails, leave no trace and pack out what you pack in.
