ALLIANCE ANNUAL REPORT Alliance Participants: Rocky Mountain Education Center (RMEC) Region VIII (May 31, 2006)
I. Alliance Background Date Signed: April 7, 2004 Overview: The purpose of this alliance was to provide RMEC members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to work related injuries by addressing safety training issues at the vocational education level. Implementation Team Meetings August 17, 2005 Planning meeting. December 7, 2005 Planning meeting. III. Events and Products Training and Education Events To date RMEC has trained 42 CTE Trainers, In North Dakota, who in turn have trained 218 students in the 10 Hr Construction Outreach Program To date RMEC has trained 7 CTE Trainers, in Colorado. Products None Outreach and Communication Events Rich Hawkins, of RMEC, met with NCCER in July, to draft partnership to promote dual credentials (ie, OSHA 10hr and NCCER) for secondary and post secondary students Rich Hawkins did a presentation on the Alliance for Advisory board, consisting of Colorado educators. Megan presented on Alliance to Denver Public Schools safety council Ed Prevatt (NCCER) presented to Advisory Board for Warren Technical School on Alliance Products EAO and DAO sent letters to Colorado School Superintendents promoting the Alliance Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health Events None. Products None. IV. Results - The primary outcome of the second year of this Alliance has been the formation of a partnership between RMEC and NCCER to provide dual credentials for secondary and post secondary students through the delivery of OSHA 500 training to CTE instructors nationwide via the NCCER Master Educator network.   Type of Activity (Conference, Training, Print and Electronic Distribution, etc.) Number of Individuals Reached or Trained OSHA 500 Training for CTE Instructors 49 OSHA 10 Hr Training for Students 218 TOTAL 267 V. Upcoming Milestones As the result of the formation of the partnership between RMEC and NCCER, an effective delivery mechanism for providing OSHA training to CTE instructors and their students was established. Therefore, this Alliance has been allowed to expire. Discussions are underway to determine whether a new Alliance should be formed in support of the RMEC/NCCER partnership. Also, a meeting will be held with RMEC to explore further opportunities for future cooperation.
