Addendum to the
AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING AN ALLIANCE
BETWEEN
THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, BILLINGS AREA OFFICE
AND
THE MONTANA UTILITY COORDINATING COUNCIL
(MUCC)

The Montana Utility Coordinating Council joins with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Billings Area Office, in recognizing the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to advance safety and more healthful Montana workplaces. The MUCC therefore agrees to continue the OSHA Alliance to use their expertise to help enhance contractors’ education and professional expertise and promote the value of increasing safety competency in the trenching and excavation industry throughout the state of Montana. The MUCC agrees to all of the provisions set out in the original Alliance that the OSHA Billings Area Office and MUCC signed on October 2, 2003 and extend that Alliance for one year until October 3, 2005.

OSHA’s Alliances provide parties an opportunity to participate in a voluntary cooperative relationship with OSHA for purposes such as training and education, outreach and communication and promoting a national dialogue on workplace safety and health. These Alliances have proved to be valuable tools for both OSHA and its Alliance participants. By entering into an Alliance with a party, OSHA is not endorsing any of that party’s products or services; nor does the Agency enter into an Alliance with the purpose of promoting a particular party’s products or services.

An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a revised plan of action, update working procedures, and redefine the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, the team will continue to meet at least quarterly to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance.
